Monsters of Mayhem was inspired by my own bouts with mental illness, particularly anxiety and depression.
16 years ago, I had a severe attack. While in the midst of coping with such an experience, I closed my eyes and saw, within my mind, visions of faces, distorted with streaks of color imprinted upon their twisted expressions.
Over time, I channeled those visions into motifs. The process was therapeutic yet visceral. By accepting the monsters inside of me, and the chaos they represented, I was able to utilize them in such a way where angst and conflict were shaped into the beauty of art, thus giving color to this doleful existence.
